If you haven’t been in the water in a while, you’re new to thicker exposure protection, or you’re unsure about your buoyancy in kelp, tell us. We’ll recommend the best next step—sometimes that’s still a guided shore dive, and sometimes it’s a refresher or skills-focused session first. Our goal is simple: set you up for a dive day that feels safe, controlled, and genuinely fun.

Shore vs. boat guided dives: how to choose

Both options can deliver incredible Monterey diving. The “right” choice depends on what you want from the day, how you travel, and what kind of conditions you’re comfortable with.

Guided shore dives

With guided shore dives, we focus on:

Guided boat dives

Boat diving can open up a different menu of sites and experiences. If you’re looking for a “bigger” dive day, want access beyond typical shore entries, or prefer starting your dive without surf-zone logistics, a guided boat day may be the move.

Boat dives tend to be more structured around departure times and the day’s plan, and they can be an awesome way to maximize your underwater time—especially if you’re visiting and want Monterey highlights efficiently.
